To say I love cool technology is a bit of an understatement. I have spent most of my working life at the bleeding edge of new, cool tech and get a real buzz from living at the sharp end of digital innovation. What really excites me is taking these new technologies and turning them into tangible commercial benefits.

Having just commercialised a new patent, I was looking for my next challenge. Yantra Digital offers an exciting opportunity to work with a niche international organisation who have developed a really cool, innovative web TV platform. The technology enables publishers (any organisation with a video to share) to manage and publish video content and to maximise target audience engagement, while being able to monetize content or build effective ROI.

The importance of having your own Digital TV Channel

With video and animation becoming the richest and most engaging media on the web, the challenge posed by the digital revolution is how organisations realise the commercial potential from it. This is where an integrated digital strategy which is aligned with the organization’s business plan becomes vital.

By 2017, video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic, according to Cisco. Video-on-demand traffic alone will have almost trebled.

With online video quickly becoming a key means for people to satisfy their information and entertainment needs, businesses and brands that fail to include it in their internet marketing strategies will do so at their peril. Ergo, uncool.

Top five statistics which demonstrates the revolution created by online video:

Visitors who view product videos are 85% more likely to buy than visitors who do not. (Internet Retailer 2014)
90% of users say that seeing a video about a product is helpful in the decision process (insivia)
According to Forbes, 59% of executives would rather watch video than read text.
Viewers spend 100% more time on pages with videos on them. (MarketingSherpa)
Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video compared to 10% when reading it in text. (insivia)
